Planting Trees with One Tree Planted
THE SIX PILLARS OF REFORESTATION
-
AIR
Through their leaves and bark, trees absorb harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxide, ozone, and carbon monoxide — and sweep up particles like dust and smoke. And through the process of photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere.
-
WATER
Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters such as floods and landslides. Their intricate root systems act as filters, removing pollutants and slowing the absorption of stormwater into the soil.
-
BIODIVERSITY
Many species of plants, insects, fungi, moss and wildlife depend on forests for food and shelter. Forest ecosystems encompass richly layered habitat types, which provide shelter to a breathtaking range of biodiversity — some of which can found nowhere else on earth.
-
SOCIAL IMPACT
Reforestation changes lives for the better. Food-producing trees that are grown and managed with sustainable agroforestry methods provide fruits, nuts, berries, and leaves. Over time, they can stabilize livelihoods, improve food security, and more.
-
HEALTH
Trees and forests can have a powerful positive impact on our health. Aside from filtering the air we breathe, trees can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and decrease depression. In one study, hospital patients who had a view of trees healed faster.
-
CLIMATE
A mature tree can absorb an average of 22 lbs of carbon dioxide per year, playing an important role in helping society mitigate the effects of climate change. Trees can also help reduce ambient temperatures by an average of 8° Celsius.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
How doe it work?
We partner with carefully selected reforestation organizations in 6 regions: North America, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific. You can choose a project to donate to within in each region – one dollar plants one tree. We pool the donations for each project and send the funds to our reforestation partner, enabling them to cover the costs required to get these trees in the ground.
How do you plant one tree for $1?
Tree costs vary based on region, partner, and unique overall objective of a reforestation project.
Below is a simple average breakdown of how we get trees planted, and in some cases there are additional or greater costs to account for.
In those instances we may combine resources with partners for co-funding to make a bigger impact at scale, but you can rest assured knowing that your donations will always go towards restoring healthy and thriving forests.

When will you plant my trees?
The time between your donation and the actual tree planting will vary depending on the region you have chosen and the time of year. Planting usually happens during the rainy season, when the soil provides optimum conditions for tree survival.
How do you know when my trees are being planted?
We work hard to keep you in the loop on how your donation is being used. When your planting session takes place, we will send you an update with photos and information provided by our reforestation partners. This will include details such as the tree species planted, expected survival rates, community engagement, and ecological benefits.
Do you have photos from tree planting projects?
Yes! We do our best to take photos at all of our planting projects. (Sometimes mother nature can get in the way!) Check our our galleries here.
